Save your Great American receipts and turn them in to your child's teacher.  Make sure the receipts are labeled with the teacher's name.  Every dollar spent at Slater's Great American earns us a point.  Last year, together we earned 192,808 points.  We were able to purchase six 8-position headsets and eight cd/cassette players and also jumpropes for recess.  The goal for the 2008-2009 school year is 250,000 points.  Start saving your receipts beginning Sept. 1 2008.  Receipts dated before Sept. 1 are not valid.  The program runs through March 31.

Sign up your Advantage card to earn points for Cairo Elementary in the Tools for Schools program.  Every purchase you make earns us points as well as specially marked double point items throughout the store.  Last year we earned over 17,000 points and were able to purchase an 8-position listening center, some flashcards and a library book.  You can sign up by visiting  www.pricechopper.com and clicking on tools for schools or bring your Advantage card to Open House and we can sign you up then.  Tools for Schools runs from Sept. 15, 2008 through February 15, 2009 this year.

Cairo Elementary recycles juice bags, cookie wrappers and yogurt cups to a company called Terracycle.  The company in turn uses juice bags to make tote bags and pencil cases, cookie wrappers for shower curtains and yogurt cups for painted plant pots.  We get 2 cents for every juice bag (all brands), cookie wrappers (Nabisco only) and 6 oz. yogurt cups (ie. Stonyfield, Dannon etc,) and 5 cents for every 32 oz.. yogurt cup.
